Customer Challenge

A B2B travel platform serving a global network of travel agents was hosted on Google Cloud Platform and facing scaling and performance bottlenecks that threatened to limit rapid business growth. The client required a migration to a new cloud platform that could deliver multi-region architecture for high redundancy and disaster recovery, utmost performance and scalability for containerized workloads, and a zero-downtime migration of their high-volume PostgreSQL database — all without disrupting service for travel agents operating across multiple time zones.

Solution

Aivar executed an Infrastructure and Workload Migration project, creating a production-ready, highly resilient AWS environment. The solution was built on a foundation of Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and a secure multi-account Landing Zone with AWS Control Tower. Core application workloads were deployed into managed multi-AZ Amazon EKS clusters with AWS Lambda for serverless components. The PostgreSQL database was migrated to a highly available, encrypted Amazon RDS instance using AWS DMS for continuous replication and seamless cutover. A comprehensive security layer was implemented using AWS WAF and continuous monitoring with AWS Security Hub enforcing NIST and FSBP standards.

Architecture

The architecture combines AWS foundational, container, data, and security services for enterprise-grade availability and compliance — including AWS Control Tower and Organizations for the multi-account Landing Zone, Amazon EKS clusters and AWS Lambda for scalable compute, Amazon RDS PostgreSQL with multi-AZ and read replicas, AWS DMS for continuous zero-downtime replication, AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and WAF for centralized threat detection, and Amazon CloudWatch with CloudTrail for complete operational oversight.

Key Outcomes
